I don’t feel like myself; I:
- have hot flashes during the day no matter the temperature outside.
- wake up hot during the night, covered in sweat.
- can fall asleep but not stay asleep.
- am tired during the day even though I slept.
- am happy with my partner but my sex drive has disappeared.
- can become interested in sex but never initiate it anymore.
- become irritated very easily.
- have trouble concentrating or have ‘brain fog’.
- am gaining weight but I haven’t done anything differently.
- cannot lose weight despite implementing a healthy lifestyle.
I have strange and unusual symptoms: itchy skin, ringing in the ears, eyesight changes, thinning hair, and/ or hair loss.
How do we treat it:
These are all common symptoms of Menopause and Peri-menopause. As we produce fewer amounts of estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone, our tissues lack what they need, and these common symptoms occur. We provide Menopause hormone therapy (MHT) in multiple routes, such as pills, patches or creams.
What should I expect:
Your provider will complete a consultation with you to understand your medical history, current health, and which symptoms are bothersome. Additionally, your provider will need to review your medical records, labs, mammogram, etc. Then, you will be provided with a personalized care plan with a prescription for medications to treat. It can take several weeks to feel the difference with MHT, and it might take some time to get the dosage of medications just right for you. We pride ourselves on taking the time to talk with patients to understand what they need and checking back to be sure the treatments are effective. Insurance may cover some, but not all, of the medications.
